All of us are wondering why Android phones are so expensive. The funny thing is that the OS is open source. Open source equals cheap right? The OS may be free but the hardware that go with it comes with a premium.

Enter the new HTC Tattoo the price is rumored at 300 dollars (hey! we have different concepts of cheapness). The phone has 240×320 2.8 inch touchscreen, 256 MB of RAM, 528 mhz CPU, 3G (HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA, 384 kbps), WiFi, Bluetooth, Stereo FM radio,3.15 megapixel auto-focus camera and GPS with A-GPS support. The specs are not bad and some phones with the same specs cost more. The touch screen is resistive though unlike the better capacitative screen( why are they still making those darn resistive touch screens?!).
I just hope carriers won’t pad the rumored price so that more people would buy it. I hope in the near-future they could make Android phones cheaper.
